Survey Competition: ASCE UESI Symposium

What it was: A field survey and site design project completed for the ASCE UESI Surveying Competition, presented at the Eastern Great Lakes Symposium at Youngstown State University.

What it covered:

• Processing raw survey data (PNEZD point files) in Civil3D to build a topographic base map of a 117-acre parcel in Vandalia, Ohio

• Generating a triangulated irregular network (TIN) surface and contour map from field data

• Producing a full deliverable sheet set: title sheet, topographic map, TIN, and contour map, following Lucas County Engineer's Office standards

• Researching zoning regulations, site constraints, and wetland/stormwater conditions to support a land use recommendation

• Recommending a Botanical Research & Agri-Tech Education Center as the site's best development use, based on zoning fit and environmental impact

My role: I built the competition presentation, contributed to the topographic mapping work, and helped coordinate speaking roles for our team at the competition.

Outcome: Our team presented the completed survey and site analysis in person at the Eastern Great Lakes Symposium, competing against other university teams in the ASCE UESI Surveying Competition.
